Discover the Healing Power of Art: Visit the "Stardust" Expo at Nispenhoeve
Visit the "Stardust" Expo in Prinsenbeek
Join me and over 20 other artists at the art exhibition ‘La Vita è Bella', which means 'life is beautiful,' at the stunning Galerie De Nispenhoeve and Sculpture Garden in Prinsenbeek. The Nispenhoeve chose this name for the expo because it is beautiful and inspiring, reflecting the beauty we add to the lives of many through our art. For three weeks, I will showcase several works from my "Stardust" series. Traveling all the way from Norway, I will be present for the opening weekend on September 14th and 15th.
How It All Began
Last year, John Heller approached me about exhibiting this September. Interestingly, the night before, his brother—who was my first boss at Philips—had visited him, and my name came up in their conversation. It's amazing how things sometimes fall into place, isn't it? Preparing for an exhibition always requires a lot of time and effort, but this time I had a head start.
Last year, I had already done much of the groundwork for my first solo exhibition at the Lodewijkskerkje in Oisterwijk, thanks to Ronald Peeters' recommendation. My eight selected works, along with accompanying texts and greeting cards, are already prepared. Special thanks to my childhood friend who will transport my photo works to De Nispenhoeve.
From Mourning Art to Healing Art
Over the past year, my focus has shifted significantly. My work has evolved from mourning art to exploring the healing power of Mother Earth. Art can be a powerful source of comfort and healing, and I aim to bring this magic to life through my nature photography. I'm currently working on a new series titled "Earth & Light" (the follow-up to Stardust), which reflects this vision by focusing on light and color.
Many people ask how my work and projects come to life. My creative process often begins with a broad idea without a clear plan, allowing room for spontaneous inspiration and letting the project unfold organically. This is the same approach I’m using for "Earth & Light." I also plan to seek expert advice for the final selection and how to best integrate elements from both "Stardust" and "Earth & Light" into one cohesive collection.
The Power of Art
Art has the ability to connect with and move people. During my previous exhibitions, I received many reactions, both positive and critical. It touches me when people get emotional about my work. Some find comfort and strength, while others feel somber. This demonstrates how personal art can be and how it evokes different emotions.
I often get asked what exactly I photograph. Some visitors believe knowing the subject might take away some of the magic. I think it’s fascinating to allow yourself to be surprised and take the time to truly look at the photos. Through my work, I have discovered that art can aid in the healing process. My colorful abstract photos and the energy of colors and shapes have helped me in my mourning process, and now I hope to support others with them.
I recently completed a course in art therapy, which deepened my understanding of the healing power of art.
