The artist who captures nature's healing essence.
I don't strive for a literal representation of reality; instead, I aim to evoke emotions that guide you through grief and enhance your well-being. Through my photography, I harness the transformative power of nature and art, creating a space for healing and reflection.
Hope and fear
In 2012, my life was suddenly turned upside down when my mother called me to deliver the news that her test results were not good. The vague symptoms she had been experiencing turned out to be very serious. It marked the beginning of the toughest period of my life – a time filled with numerous hospital visits, chemotherapy, and radiation treatments.
It was a period characterized by hope and fear. Half a year after being diagnosed with lung cancer, accompanied by numerous metastases, my mother passed away. Four years later, my father was diagnosed with the same dreadful disease. Within six weeks, he too had passed away. A period of mourning, pain, and sorrow ensued. Even now, I think of them daily.
"I never imagined the profound healing impact photography would have on me, but it was during the difficult time of my parents' passing that I truly rediscovered it."
Healing Through Nature and Art
When my parents passed away within a few years of each other, I went through the most difficult time of my life. During this period, I rediscovered photography. Taking photos allowed me to escape reality and shift my focus. I began exploring the fields, capturing the beauty of nature—especially the small details that many people overlook. Nature has since become my greatest source of inspiration, offering both solace and healing.
Circle of Life
In 2017, I took a photography course to develop my own style. During this course, I was inspired by a poem by Paulo Coelho about the Circle of Life. This inspiration led me to create a series of six images, each characterized by a dreamy and mysterious atmosphere. One of the most significant images from that year was the one featuring pink hues, marking the beginning of my exploration into more poetic, symbolic, and abstract photography.
Since then, themes of life and death have become recurring motifs in my work. Through my images, I aim to provide comfort and warmth during difficult times while also creating moments of positivity in the viewer's life. Rediscovering photography and exploring the Circle of Life have helped me find my style and clarify the message I want to convey.
"In the quiet details of nature, I found the strength to heal, capturing beauty through my lens when words fell short."
A story of ice and water
For me, a successful image possesses depth and a universal quality that invites endless exploration. It’s like entering a fantasy world where you can dream and imagine. I don’t strive for a truthful representation of reality; instead, photography is about conveying feelings that transcend reality and become pure expression.
Abstract art inspires, enhances well-being, and unlocks creativity. Elements like color, light, shape, atmosphere, and structure are vital in my painterly and organic (abstract macro) images, with nature as my primary muse. While the actual subjects I photograph may not always be visible, they originate from the natural world. I am particularly fascinated by water and ice, as their continuous transformation reflects the ever-changing nature of life, constantly moving and taking on new shapes and colors.
Changing the World One Photograph at a Time...
My name is Nanda Bussers, a photographer from the Netherlands. My creative journey began at a young age, drawing and painting with my aunt, an artist with her own gallery. At six, I received my first camera from my uncle and aunt, sparking my fascination with photography and offering a fresh perspective on the world.
My first life-changing trip was to Canada, where I stayed with a loving host family. Since then, I’ve traveled extensively, exploring countries like Australia, New Zealand, South America, and Asia, as well as visiting Mongolia, the Seychelles, and southern Africa. One of my dreams is to discover every country in the world.
